Every April, on Poem in Your Pocket Day, people throughout the United States celebrate by selecting a poem, carrying it with them, and sharing it with others throughout the day. It's held during National Poetry Month.
Poem in Your Pocket Day 2021
For this year's Poem in Your Pocket Day, EVERY kindergarten through fifth grade student went home with a poem in their pocket or backpack. Some poetry had been written by someone in our school. It was such a FUN day! Some examples of student-written cinquains, acrostics and haikus are below the pictures of the day's event.
Acrostic poems were so much fun to write for second and third grade students for Poem in Your Pocket Day! This simple poetry form begins with a word written straight down.
